FluxOS, Building the Hub of Web3
You can’t have Flux without FluxOS. This central component of the Flux ecosystem has had many updates in the past three months, with many features and optimizations added. To get you up to speed, here is a rundown of the recent updates to FluxOS.
Flux has spent over half a decade to become the premier provider of decentralized cloud products and services. As a market leader in the DePIN space, Flux leverages blockchain technology and decentralization to provide innovative cloud infrastructure that outpaces centralized offerings in critical areas. The Web3-powered infrastructure of the Flux network brings almost limitless scalability, high performance, and incredible resilience at meager prices.
The Flux network's engine room contains 12,500 computational nodes, which currently house more than 16,000 application instances. FluxOS is a key component of this sprawling Web3 infrastructure network.
FluxOS is a revolutionary second-layer operating system that acts as the central hub of Flux operations. The FluxOS dashboard allows clients, node operators, and others to interact with the Flux network. With FluxOS, you can launch or modify application deployments, find information about the network's status, participate in the Flux DAO governance model, and much more.
The Flux team is always working on making FluxOS even better. In the first 65 days of 2024, there have already been 13 updates to FluxOS as the team constantly optimizes performance and adds new features. As a community project independent from Venture Capital, the quality of the products available on Flux is vital to increase adoption and bring continual growth to Flux. Flux is committed to providing the best products and services in the decentralized cloud and DePIN space.
The Flux team has grown significantly over the last year, and Flux development is happening at an unprecedented pace. This makes it hard to keep up with all the new developments, so to get you up to speed, here are some highlights of the recent FluxOS updates.
FluxOS, what have you been up to?
In the past three months or so, there have been a lot of changes to FluxOS. To provide an overview, we’ll break it down into some categories.
First of all, the HomeUI, which is the look, feel, and usability of FluxOS, has had many improvements. The graphical theme has been updated with an overall blue theme. The menus have been simplified, and many quality-of-life improvements have been added. For example, you have more options to sign in, as Metamask and SSP wallet are now supported.
The application marketplace and application management have also seen many significant improvements. The marketplace has had new products added for easy deployment, such as Palworld and Valheim game servers. Application subscriptions are easier to manage as there is now more information on expiration dates, and you can extend subscriptions when updating specifications. There are also many new options when deploying applications, including a selection of enterprise nodes and private docker deployments. You can also now redeploy expired applications or import application specifications if needed.
Application management has also been enhanced with many new features. You can now access the local management of your applications without visiting the specific FluxNode running the application. The ability to connect via the terminal to your application has been added so that you can check out logs, update configuration files, or interact with the application via the command line. It is now possible to back up and restore application data. So when taking your application offline, you can save your data, whether it is a Minecraft world or an application database.
A significant feature is the addition of persistent data on the running applications. At least three application instances are always running, where one is the master and the others are clones. They sync in real-time, and if the master goes offline, one of the clones is promoted to the new master instance. This makes applications running on Flux incredibly resilient.
Last, there have been many optimizations to increase stability and efficiency. FluxOS and the Flux network are running more smoothly than ever, as the team has squashed bugs and other issues.
All of the above has been brought online in the last three months, keeping Flux firmly in the top spot as the most mature and fully featured decentralized infrastructure network.
On the 12th of March, a significant new feature was added with FluxOS version 5.0.0: fiat payments! People can now deploy their apps on FluxOS HomeUIFlux using fiat currency through Stripe and PayPal. This allows clients to purchase Flux services without holding crypto and helps bridge the gap between Web2 and Web3. Prices are set to a fiat amount to avoid fluctuations due to changes in the cost of the Flux coin. All fiat payments are converted to Flux in the background, so payments are still ultimately settled with the Flux utility coin. It is still possible to pay with Flux if you prefer.
Leaping into the future, there is so much more on the horizon
2024 is a leap year, and Flux is taking that to heart. This year, Flux will be leaping into the future as many vital products and services are going to the market.
Flux WordPress came out of beta on February 29th and is now live. This will enable WordPress users to quickly onboard their websites onto the Flux network and take advantage of the low prices and high performance.
The Flux Marketplace will receive a long-anticipated update in a few weeks, dubbed Marketplace V2. This update will give the marketplace a much-improved look and feel and simplify the experience of shopping for Flux products and services.
The Flux Proof of Useful Work marvel Fluxcore entered beta on February 29th and is now home to more than 5,500 GPUs ready to do work when the FluxEdge GPU marketplace launches its alpha phase on March 29th. This will initiate the rollout of a new market segment for Flux with GPU computing for AI, ML, rendering, and more.
Also, the new simple, secure and powerful SSP wallet has been released, providing the blockchain community with a new open-source wallet option with unparalleled security through its multi-signature feature.
Flux is also working on many more exciting developments and new partnerships to make 2024 a landmark year for Flux and Web3.
