Flux Recap 2022: Highlights Of The Year.
2022 has been a tremendous year for Flux. Even in the middle of a harsh crypto-winter, the Ecosystem has continued to thrive and expand its reach. Now, as we end the year on a high note, let’s go back to the beginning and walk through Flux defining moments.
In The Beginning, There Was Flux:
2500…..That was the number of nodes running on the Flux computational network at the beginning of the year. Barely 12 months later, the Ecosystem is running on more than 15,000+ nodes (and counting) but let’s keep going.
January started with Flux’s acceptance into the Nvidia Inception program as a premier partner. This partnership laid the groundwork for a cross-sharing of ideas, technology, and essential networking, which was of significant help to Flux in shaping the Web3 industry. Back in the base, the Swag shop was officially launched, throwing the gates of Flux Merchandise open to everyone. Got Flux? Flaunt Flux!
A new support desk officially kicked off to help customers and users with any inquiries or complaints they might have using Flux products or services.
By March, it was time to get things sizzling.
The Great Flux March
Flux node collateral halving started in March, a move designed to get more node operators on the network by reducing the collateral they needed to get started.
Around the same time, Kadena restructured how their nodes launch on the Flux network. Instead of running just as one local installable file, it would now run as several global applications with faster hardware specifications to provide a better experience and give more control to operators. Miners of Kadena (MOK) also followed suit with the Flux Node Incentive program.
FluxOS updates also started rolling out, bringing new and enhanced functionality to the Ecosystem. From multi-support that allows you to run on different machines using the same IP address to authentication improvements, Flux Bench upgrades, and, to crown it all, FluxOS v3.28.0. This version birthed real-time application data synchronization across all Flux ecosystem nodes.
Another March highlight was the deployment of Nebulous, a decentralized version of Infura. Nebulous provides a fully decentralized end-to-end development environment for Web3 developers to leverage the Flux ecosystem’s many components. Flux was also listed on BinanceUS and many other exchanges/Wallets, including Crypto.com, KADDEX, Atomic Wallet, BitPanda, Bityard, and Latoken.
Making Room
Flux accelerator program FluxLabs unveiled a new website and onboarded new dynamic projects, including Alephium, Meowcoin, and Hopstairs, among others. The marketplace also went live, and now you can easily host your blockchain node, game server, frontend, or DApp in a few steps without writing a single line of code. The marketplace started with DASH, PIVX, and PRE as the first nodes but has grown into more than 60 projects.
But the Flux-mania was just getting started.
We onboarded a new marketing agency (M-Group) to consolidate our marketing efforts. Proof of Useful Work has always been substantial in the Ecosystem’s overall goal. In May, Flux partnered with the University of Applied Sciences in Geneva to further explore the technology and its potential use cases.
The Snapshot for new parallel assets Flux-Ergo and Flux-Avalanche took place on May 5. In an exciting win for Web3, Flux partnered with Lumen Technologies to bring an enterprise-level experience to the Ecosystem. In addition, the project “Titan” would enable new users with limited resources to pool their resources and run shared nodes.
Titan Legacy watch was also launched in partnership with TSAO as the first ever NFT-based limited edition watch.
A Winning Streak
July to October marked a series of consecutive wins for the Ecosystem in what could only be described as the “Flux winning streak.” By the end of July, there was already over 100 million locked-in Flux supply, and Titan shared nodes were already running.
Even as the effects of the LUNA tragic crash continued eating deeper into market prices, Flux continued creating new waves. Flux-Eth and Flux-BSC were added to the Binance Earn program, while the Binance widget was also integrated into our official website, allowing instant transactions directly to Binance.
On September 15, Ethereum merged with Beacon completing the final stage of its move to the Proof of Stake consensus. This move, coupled with updates to Nvidia and AMD card optimization on Flux, resulted in a massive hash rate growth, with figures hitting a record of over 10 MS/s by September 18.
Flux partnered with Ergo for the ErgoHack V Mining & Minting, alongside hosting a decentralized Smartpool on Getblock.io (Flux pool would become the top pool for the test period). Several mining pools opened Flux mining, including zpool.ca, zeropool.io, Cruxpool, and two Mars Miners, all supporting Flux parallel mining. Furthermore, Flux was added to NiceHash and is now fully supported on UnMineable.
Another round of partnership with Davidson consulting, a top firm in management consulting and technology expertise, cemented Flux’s leading role in the BASS industry at a meetup event held in Lille, France.
On October 11, Flux signed the Crypto Climate Accord advocating for green Blockchain solutions. Geolocation 2.0 rolled out a few days later, a feature that helps application owners on Flux cloud reduce latency and improve accessibility by selecting specific geographical locations from which to launch their nodes.
A second snapshot for a new set of parallel assets yet to be announced was the Flux Halloween present for October 31, and with just two months left to the close of the year, it was Turbo-time.
On All Cylinders
The arrival of persistent storage on Flux (IFPS) heralded the deployment of new features and products in the Ecosystem. It all started with the launch of Flux Cloud (formerly Jetpack 2.0), which enables users to deploy and manage their applications on Flux infrastructure quickly. Then FluxDrive rolled out a Web3 version of DropBox that will allow users to store data securely on the decentralized internet…..forever.
Project Thunder, a class of nodes enabling operators to provide decentralized cloud storage, is also on the way.
The Stratus node tier crossed the 2000 nodes threshold. In a beautiful climax, Flux signed a partnership with Seeed Studio, an edge computing hardware company, to offer the first-ever plug-and-play FluxNode! (The first pre-order catalog sold out almost instantly.)
As the year was rounding off, Flux recorded another win with OVH-cloud, Europe’s leading cloud provider, becoming a strategic partner. The partnership will bridge the Web2/Web3 dichotomy, allowing Flux to power businesses and applications in both worlds.
With the Flux community's support, we also won the Presearch Advertising Grant (worth $100,000 in advertising costs). The first version of the FluxOS mobile application is now out in both Android and Apple stores. Moreover, according to Bunny Analyst, Flux experienced annual revenue growth of 11,173.22% compared to last year!
As the curtain draws on a very eventful year, Flux would like to thank all partners, miners, community members, and every user. Thank you for being part of the Flux story for 2022.
Cheers to a successful year, and here’s to a FluxFul 2023!
