Last month, Flux recorded new milestones, setting new precedents for decentralized cloud infrastructure. This article will review the Flux timeline and the critical happenings for May.

Every May 22 is celebrated as Bitcoin Pizza Day, a ground-breaking event many believe triggered the beginnings of a truly decentralized financial system.

For Flux, it was another opportunity to take DePIN and Proof of Useful Work (PoUW) to a new level.

Let’s start with new metrics. In May, FluxCore numbers hit a new high with over 24,000 benchmarks, 4350 providers, and more than 7000 total GPUs that can serve the needs of potential clients on FluxEdge. Interestingly, Daniel Keller’s (CEO & Co-founder, Flux) article on decentralized physical infrastructure (DePIN) was featured on Forbes the same month. If you missed it, you can catch up here.

FluxEdge On Steroids

Flux’s DePIN compute marketplace, FluxEdge, has been in the works for some time now. The Alpha version already went live in April as a closed release and is only available to selected community members. This allowed the developers to test the marketplace’s functionalities and collect data and feedback. However, let’s share some insider scoop.

FluxAI, the first API-driven and enhanced privacy AI system built specifically for Web3 and the Flux ecosystem is already available on FluxEdge. With FluxAI, developers can easily integrate their preferred models and deploy AI-powered applications. Paypal and other card payments have also been integrated into the marketplace, ensuring users can easily make payments for services on the platform.

Whether it’s video rendering, cloud gaming, machine learning, or an AI project, FluxEdge will provide easy access for users to rent powerful GPU machines at affordable prices with fiat payment options. (Bonus points if you pay directly using $FLUX).

Redis Support for WordPress

Another exciting update in May was introducing Redis support for decentralized WordPress. A Remote Dictionary Server (Redis) is an in-memory database solution that offers enhanced performance for WordPress websites by storing the data it uses within the server’s random access memory (RAM).

Typically, when a user tries to access a website, a query is sent to an external data source, and the information needed for the web page to load is sent back. However, the process takes longer when there is high traffic, resulting in increased page loading time due to latency.

Redis solves this problem by bypassing the traditional approach and storing the required data in memory, thus making its retrieval faster. With the newly introduced Redis support on Flux, WordPress users can enjoy almost 2x their website performance and faster page loading speeds. Check out this article to learn more about Redis and how you can integrate it on your decentralized WordPress website.

Partnerships, listings, and More.

Flux partnered with YOM, an emerging provider of pixel streaming infrastructure for the cloud gaming industry. This partnership will see YOM leveraging FluxEdge to meet the increasing demand for computing resources on its platform. This will enable it to scale efficiently while maintaining peak performance and affordability. For more details about this partnership, here’s a quick read.

The ecosystem token, $Flux was also listed on two more exchanges in May — HTX, a leading Asian exchange, and WhiteBit.

The Flux team was on site for Consensus 2024, a global gathering of major players in the Blockchain and Cryptocurrency space that took place in Austin, Texas, last month. Flux is a strong proponent of industry collaboration as a means of fostering innovation, and this event provided another opportunity to introduce Flux solutions to the global community.

FluxEdge Alpha is Going Public

Good news for community members who cannot wait to get their hands on FluxEdge! There is now an official launch date for the public release of Flux Edge Alpha.

On June 26th, FluxEdge Alpha will go public with features like preselected Quick Launch applications, fiat payments, plus in-container Shell functionality and logs to allow users to retrieve relevant data regarding their deployment process. The official new service module for FluxCore, which contains guidelines on how providers can join clusters and make their GPU machines available for rent, will be available before the release date.

Flux Cloud 2.0 is also on its way, with a new marketplace (V2), a totally revamped user interface, and more exciting features.

And there you have it for May! Last month, we introduced Redis support, partnered with YOM, and added new functionality to FluxEdge, among other things. But we are not stopping. The future is here, and we are ready — one tech at a time.
