Flux in Review: June Report.
Flux had several exciting unveilings in the past month. In this review, let’s take a trip back through the Flux timeline for June.
June was the month many predicted would be the “rate-limiting step” for the world of Crypto, primarily due to the intense activities of the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).
First, Binance, the world’s largest Crypto exchange, was sued. A few days later, Coinbase also came into the crosshairs of the regulatory agency. In response, BTC plunged to its lowest points in three months, sending panic through the market. On Twitter, crypto-alarmists sounded their death knells;
“Sell it all. It’s all going to zero. We are going back to the stone age. It’s over.”
Despite the raging controversies, Flux continued to push the boundaries of innovation for cloud infrastructure.. So, when the SEC added 23 new tokens to its list of securities, Flux took time to allay the fears of users as regards its regulatory compliance.
This was followed by announcing an important upgrade that would reintroduce Flux to the business world as a cloud provider with enterprise capabilities.
Enterprise and More…
FluxOS version 4.0.0 was Flux’s response to the demand of many clients for privacy and exclusive security features, which would be essential for deploying certain types of applications. Therefore, the upgrade introduced features like Private Docker Containers, Secrets, flexibility in Docker repositories, and an enterprise score system to grade FluxNodes based on their performance and capabilities. Here is a detailed article on FluxOS 4.0.0 and its included features.
An additional upgrade followed this release, aimed at enhancing the integration of Syncthing (already decoupled from the FluxOS process).
Still, in June, the Flux Cloud underwent another notable upgrade, debuting Ethereum ownership support. Now, FluxNodes can be owned by Ethereum addresses, and users can log in directly to their nodes using their Ethereum address. This is an important step as it provides greater flexibility and compatibility with existing blockchain networks.
These significant upgrades (along with a minor patch release) are targeted at improving the compatibility, ease of use, and performance of Flux Cloud, making it suitable for powering even the most complex applications.
Flux Meets Polygon
Flux also unveiled the 9th parallel asset of the ecosystem, Flux-Matic. The Polygon network is notable for its speed, scalability, and vast DeFi potential. As such, Flux-Matic will facilitate synergy between both ecosystems, creating a viable environment for cross-platform development opportunities. If you held $Flux (Zelcore Wallet) on October 31st, 2022, you can now claim your rewards using Fusion. (Unable to find Polygon chain in Fusion? Update your Zelcore wallet.)
To Research and Humanity
Flux’s PouW (Proof of Useful Work) efforts peaked in June as it deployed 5000 instances of the Folding@Home app and broke the 100 million points milestone! Folding@Home is a distributed computing project that leverages computation power for simulating protein folding dynamics.
Insights from these data, in turn, provide scientists and pharmaceutical companies with new therapeutics and medical intervention options. With this achievement, Flux is now among the all-time top 0.8% contributors to the project. Do More With Octominer
Flux plans to launch the Proof of Concept for PoUW in the year’s third quarter. This will drive new opportunities for miners by allowing them to switch between mining processes and use their rigs for compute-intensive tasks like rendering, deepfake detection, and more. To ensure that miners remain at the peak of their performance while maximizing profits, Flux has partnered with Octominer for quality hardware that is compatible and optimized for PoUW. Here is a detailed release on the collaboration.
