SSP Update: True Multisig on Ethereum
SSP update introduces an advanced approach to wallet security, combining simplicity and industry-standard technology.
The launch of the SSP wallet in 2023 marked a definitive turning point for Web3 and wallet technology at large. On the one hand, the wallet reflected the ideal standards of a decentralized future, especially with its simple, uncluttered user interface and open-source code base. On the other hand, SSP also packed an explosive combination of cutting-edge security, advanced encryption, Multi-sig capabilities, seamless integration with major Dapps platforms, and more.
Thanks to a new update, SSP is again changing the wallet security game.
Ethereum Support
SSP v1.6.0 unveils a groundbreaking innovation: true multi-signature accounts on Ethereum! Why is this important? Until now, Ethereum has not had a native multi-signature protocol. Therefore, any multi-signature solution had to rely on smart contracts and use standard externally owned accounts (EOA). The process typically involves an EOA initiating the transaction, paying the gas fee, and then “calling” the multi-signature smart contract.
However, SSP has become the first wallet to introduce multi-signature accounts to Ethereum without needing an EOA account. This signifies a breakthrough moment for the EVM ecosystem and for account security on Ethereum.
SSP is also pioneering a completely open-source Schnorr Multi-Signature Account Abstraction typescript library that is available on GitHub and npm. This will enable users to create native multi-sig Ethereum addresses and add valuable contributions for improvement.
Account abstraction allows users to quickly implement multi-sig without needing a separate multi-sig wallet contract. It eliminates some of the limitations associated with using EOA, such as private key compromise and phishing attacks, while offering advantages like flexible wallet recovery and enhanced security. Account abstraction also offers potential possibilities like transaction sponsoring, gas abstractions, removal of reliance on seed phrases, and more. All of which can expand the scope of the SSP wallet and inspire new features and additions.
In addition to the Ethereum mainnet, SSP now supports the Sepolia testnet and other assets like Flux, USDT, and USDC. There is also ongoing development work to include more assets, support custom tokens, and increase the integration options available for the wallet.
Dark Mode Support
For dark mode enthusiasts, the new SSP update is rolling out support for dark mode. Users can now switch between light and dark modes on the app. This will help reduce eye strain in low-light conditions, improve energy efficiency on some screens, and enhance the aesthetic feel of SSP.
SSP v1.6.0 also includes other general upgrades like bug fixes and dependencies updates, amongst others, to improve performance and user experience on the wallet. With this new update, SSP is better positioned to serve users across all levels, providing a unique solution to digital security and creating new opportunities to innovate the decentralized ecosystem.
