Restructuring Flux Governance with XDAO 2.0

2 min readApr 22, 2025

XDAO has been the governance protocol for the Flux ecosystem, where community members submit and vote on proposals to change or further Flux development.

Fluxers’ voting power has always been proportional to their contributions to the network, and this model has made a fair voting mechanism possible for our community.

However, as Flux has grown, it needs a more robust and comprehensive DAO governance structure.

Shortcomings of XDAO

Currently, voting is exclusively done by node operators, which consolidates ecosystem decision-making between only those who can afford node hardware.

We want to ensure that voting processes for Flux proposals remain decentralized and accessible to as many Fluxers as possible.

XDAO 2.0

So, to “Flux” things up, we are introducing XDAO 2.0 to expand community member voting capability and authority to Fluxers who don’t run nodes.

Through XDAO 2.0, the Flux ecosystem will achieve a more decentralized and equitable governance structure.

Cumulus, Nimbus, and Stratus node operators can still vote on governance proposals. The most significant change introduced by this new governance structure is that XDAO 2.0 extends voting rights to miners.

The breakdown of the new XDAO 2.0 voting structure is as follows:

  • Solo Miners — votes will be accumulated for every 1000 $FLUX locked in staking; 1000 FLUX = 1 vote.
  • Pooled Miners — to delegate voting, parties must have $FLUX staked in a liquidity pool for a specific period that will be determined.
  • Node Operators — Cumulus-1000 Flux = 1 vote; Nimbus-per 1000 Flux = 12.5 votes; Stratus-per 1000 Flux = 40 votes.

XDAO 2.0 will further decentralize Flux governance and include miners in more than just securing the network. Stay tuned for everything else “Fluxing” your way, and follow us on X for all the latest updates!
