In June, the Flux ecosystem recorded the launching of highly-anticipated products to transform Web3 and the cloud computing industry. From Flux Cloud 2.0 to FluxEdge, here’s a recap of June in the Flux timeline.

$2 Million in Free Deployments

Flux started its June run with a free deployment campaign worth $2 Million specifically for education institutions and networks. This was a strategic move to promote interest in decentralized technologies by offering stakeholders in the educational sector a unique opportunity to explore the massive potential of the ecosystem. Leveraging this campaign, students, researchers, and others can readily run their websites or deploy projects on Flux Cloud and tap into its highly scalable network.

By eliminating the cost barrier, Flux hopes to kindle fresh innovations on the blockchain, provide a viable alternative to costly centralized providers, and enable the educational community to interact seamlessly with Web3. This ongoing opportunity is available to all member universities of the University Blockchain Alliance (UBA), a coalition of over 110 universities across six continents and a long-standing Flux Partner. Other interested educational institutions can also participate in the campaign by contacting Flux.

Flux Cloud 2.0 is Here!

Last month, Flux also announced the release of Flux Cloud 2.0, another major headliner. The new version of the Flux decentralized cloud suite features a complete UI overhaul, new additions, and an integrated fiat payment ramp to improve user experience and accessibility.

Some new features introduced include the single sign-on (SSO) feature, which allows users to access their Flux Cloud account and manage applications using a single set of credentials. The new approach removes the need for Zelcore authentication before login. Instead, it offers a more user-friendly option (especially for new users): simply logging in with an e-mail, Google Sign-in, or an Apple ID. Also, with the introduction of the fiat payment ramp, users are no longer limited to crypto payments for Flux Cloud services and can, therefore, budget more effectively for their cloud needs. Another exciting addition was the new Flux Marketplace (v2) for quick deployment of dApps, servers, nodes, and other custom applications.

Zelcore Updates

The Zelcore development team released two updates in June, v8.2.1 and v8.3.0. Zelcore 8.2.1 introduced FluxID, a successor to the previous Zell-ID feature with enhanced digital identity management and security. Multiple EasyLogins accounts have also been integrated into the wallet with an additional biometric layer of protection, the old user interface was completely reworked, and a new BSC contract for TrueUSD BEP20 was introduced.

Zelcore 8.3.0 improves even further with support for Bitcoin and Litecoin Taproot accounts and the addition of Bitcoin, Litecoin, and Digibyte Native Segwit Accounts. New assets like the Karate Combat token and $BDX were added to expand the wallet portfolio. Check out this article to read more about these features and their more significant impact on security and user experience.

More Upgrades

Flux also rolled out more upgrades for other products in the ecosystem. There were two new updated releases for FluxCore Beta adding functionalities like “Default Mining Configuration”, “Default Mining Overclocking Profiles”, and the much-awaited “Miner Auto-Switch Toggle” that allows users to switch between Proof of Work mining on FluxCore and renting out their machines on FluxEdge.

Users can now lease their machines for new services like “Blockchain” and “Infrastructure”, set limited PoUW overclocking profiles and even withdraw their accrued earnings on the FluxCore platform. SSP — Flux open source, multi-sig wallet also added support for Zcash and Bitcoin Cash via a new update patch released in June.

FluxEdge Alpha Public Release

FluxEdge, the computing marketplace of the future, has been in the works for some time now, and a closed release was announced in March. In June, however, FluxEdge Alpha finally went public with incredible features like support for Kubernetes clusters, fiat payment, and industry-standard tools like Jupyter Notebook, Grafana, and Ollana. FluxEdge offers advanced cloud computing services on demand, allowing users to only pay for what they use.

FluxEdge addresses the growing problem of efficiency and environmental sustainability by pooling resources from a decentralized network of under-utilized hardware, reducing e-waste, and minimizing the environmental impact of discarded hardware. To test it out and participate in the Alpha program, visit the official website. Currently, only 200 slots are available per region, and the number will gradually increase to match demand.

And there you have it for June! Last month, we unveiled Flux Cloud 2.0, launched FluxEdge Alpha (Public release), and added new functionalities to Zelcore, among other things. But we are not stopping. The future is here, and we are ready — one tech at a time.
